About Us

Totem home is a collection founded and created by Kim Ficaro. Inspired by her travels and work as a set designer and interior stylist for 2 decades in the commercial photo industry. Her desire to create spaces and objects that feel lived in and well loved, came to life in 2016. The purpose for Totem is to support connection through the choices  made, and the feeling an object or a space stimulates.

Production began in Oaxaca in 2016 working with weavers for blankets and pillows, artisans for handmade cotton rope bags, and ceramics. Morocco we worked with weavers in the Atlas Mountains developing pillows and blankets. New development and production has begun in 2023 in Portugal working with brass, ceramics, glass, and linen small ateliers.

The current collection of ceramics in Mexico are handmade by a master artisan in San Agustin, Etla in Oaxaca. The Brass collection by a master artisan in Portugal, and the marbleized ceramics by two different atelier's in Portugal. Every piece will always be uniquely its own with variations and subtleties as we celebrate the beauty of the imperfect. Batches are small, and fired in a high temperature Kiln.
